CHINA DOLL

I’m excited to share with you my design spin with this one-of-a-kind jacket, woven from the rich tapestry of music and fashion history. 

I created this from Carolyn Lee’s ‘Mihitabel’ hand tie dyed grillcloths used by bands like New Riders of the Purple Sage and The Grateful Dead- then tied together with a very rare hand drawn brush colored Indonesian batik tulis from her

presonal collection of 1960's hand loomed hand drawn batik fabrics used to dress icons like The Eagles, Jim Croce, Sweetwater, and The Beach Boys. I then repurposed vintage jeans from my personal collection including two full waistbands and two denim pockets.

This piece is truly special and features the very last of this hand drawn batik cotton floral motif, ensuring there will never be a piece the same again.  While I will be releasing variations with other prints and dyes from her fabric estate, the colors and patterns here are unique to this kimono and will forever be a part of its soul.
