This is my twist on her appliqué men's western shirts. While exploring her fabric archive and polaroids, it became clear that her talent went far beyond tie-dye, highlighting her impressive quilting and appliqué skills. She crafted a variety of sunrise landscapes. I wanted to make my own playful art inspired by her classic western shirt deisgns for men.  This piece celebrates the creative energy of the 1960's and 70's at the Mihitabel shop which was located at 3707 Sunset Blvd. This enclave was known at the time as "The Other End Of Sunset". The art community at The Junction in Silver Lake and Echo Park was in full blossom, where every item was truly one of a kind and crafted with such care and attention.

Shining light on her creative spirit has become a core passion of mine.
