DEAD TEE

One of a kind tee appliquéd by hand with original vintage fabric from Carolyn Lee’s 'Mihitabel' tie dye grillcloths, tapestries, and personal collection of 1970’s hand drawn and painted Indonesian Batik prints.
Each piece is reworked from two separate tees with hand tailored asymmetrical seam construction. Reverse dyed by hand one at a time.
These hand dyed fabrics are notorious for grillcloths used by bands like New Riders Of The Purple Sage and Grateful Dead. Carolyn is also known for outfitting icons like The Eagles, Jim Croce, Sweetwater, and The Beach Boys.
Each letter is hand cut and placed on this tee with intention. Carolyn's driving principal was to not be a "cookie-cutter" manufacturer, but rather a handcrafting artisan, which is aligned with what Bella Roi collection embodies. Check through the slides for original photos of Mihitabel.
The Mihitabel shop was located at 3707 Sunset Blvd, which at the time was known as "The Other End Of Sunset". The art community at The Junction in Silver Lake and Echo Park in the 1960's and 1970's was a creative epicenter.
*No two pieces are the same. Reach out for custom options.
Each Tee is a one of a kind experience and will vary in patterns and colors.
