MADE TO ORDER 'THE GARDEN' DRESS

Made to order, one-of-a-kind dress using fabrics from Mihitabel, Carolyn Lee's legendary Sunset Boulevard custom shop. She used these fabrics as a coveted tailor for artists such as The Eagles, Jim Croce, America, Bread, The Beach Boys, John Denver, Three Dog Night, and Sweetwater’s Nancy Nevins and Alex Del Zoppo — who later became her husband.

The shop opened in the 1962 and closed in the early 1970s due to a family illness, and these rare fabrics have been carefully stored away ever since by Zoppo. Now, for the first time in decades, you have the opportunity to own a piece woven together with pieces of this music and fashion history.

For this dress I pieced together the same exact fabrics from her original 1973 Mihitabel patterned Western shirt. Using her untouched yardage of wax-coated kitchen fabric from the yoke and cuff detail. I wanted to make a piece that embodies us both and carries her story forward.
